Wellborn Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
We install paver driveways and paver patios in Fort Worth for $7,000 to $18,000, and we can usually start within two to three weeks once the quote is signed. The most common call we get is from a homeowner whose existing pavers have shifted, sunk, or cracked after a few North Texas freeze-thaw cycles, and they want to know if the base can be saved or if the whole driveway needs to come out. Short answer: it depends on the base, but we’ll tell you straight after one site visit.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Let’s get one thing clear up front: Wellborn makes cabinetry, not pavers. If you’re looking at a Wellborn product that failed on your driveway or patio, you’re almost certainly dealing with a Wellborn cabinet that got damaged by water or humidity from an adjacent exterior surface, or you’re mixing up the name with a paver brand. Bradford Remodeling Co Fort Worth is an independent contractor and not affiliated with Wellborn, but we work with Wellborn cabinetry in kitchens and bathrooms all over Fort Worth, and we install Belgard and Unilock pavers for driveways, patios, and walkways.
If a Wellborn cabinet near a garage door or exterior wall has swollen or delaminated, the pavers or driveway drainage outside is often the root cause. Water that pools against the foundation wicks into the wall cavity and finds the cabinet base. That’s not a cabinet defect. That’s a grading problem. We fix both.

Signs Your Wellborn Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers are sinking or dipping in traffic paths. This almost always means the base material wasn’t compacted in lifts, or water has washed fines out from under the edge. In Fort Worth’s clay soil, we see this most often on driveways where the base was laid over expanded clay without proper drainage.
- Edges are spreading or separating from the border. Without a solid edge restraint, paver systems walk outward under vehicle load. We use a concrete edge restraint on every driveway, never plastic that heaves in a Texas summer.
- Water pools against the garage slab after rain. The driveway should pitch away from the house at a minimum 1% slope. If it doesn’t, that water is doing damage you can’t see yet, and it’s the reason your Wellborn garage cabinets or baseboards are showing water stains.
- Efflorescence or white chalky film won’t go away. This is minerals leaching through the paver from trapped moisture below. It’s not harmful, but it tells you water isn’t draining through the system the way it should.
- Joint sand keeps washing out after every storm. Polymeric sand should hold for years if the joints are filled to the right depth and activated properly. If you’re sweeping sand back in every spring, the base is moving underneath.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway replacement in Fort Worth runs $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, access, and how much of the old base can be salvaged. If the base is sound, we can sometimes reset and recompact the existing pavers for the lower end of that range. If we’re pulling out a failed base and starting fresh with geotextile fabric, crushed limestone, and proper compaction, you’re looking at the higher end.
What’s included: demolition and haul-off of the old surface, base prep and compaction, edge restraint, bedding sand, pavers, joint sand, and final compaction. You get a written line-item price before any work starts, and every paver job is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the pavers shift or sink within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s The Garrison Standard in writing, not a handshake.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the slope of your driveway yourself with a 4-foot level and a garden hose. Watch where water goes after a hard rain. You can also look for cracked or chipped pavers and note whether the joints are holding. What you shouldn’t do is pull up pavers and start rebuilding the base without understanding compaction and drainage in Fort Worth’s expansive clay. A base that’s 2 inches too thin or missing a fabric separator will fail again in 18 months, and you’ll have spent a weekend and a trailer rental to end up where you started.

FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway lasts 25 to 30 years in Fort Worth, and the pavers themselves rarely fail. What fails is the base underneath. If the base is compacted correctly and water is managed, the pavers stay put. Call (682) 204-4897 if your driveway is shifting before year ten, because that points to a base problem, not a paver problem.
Yes, in many cases we can remove and reset the affected section, add base material, and reinstall the same pavers without buying new material. If the pavers are still in good shape and the failure is localized, repair costs a fraction of replacement. We’ll tell you honestly which route makes sense after we see the site.
Most Fort Worth paver driveway replacements take three to five working days from demo to final compaction, depending on size and weather. Rain can push that window, because compacting wet clay base is a recipe for future settlement. We’d rather wait a day than hand you a driveway that moves in the spring.
We don’t stock Wellborn pavers because Wellborn doesn’t manufacture them. For pavers, we install Belgard and Unilock, and we also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone for interior finishes. If you need a Wellborn cabinet repaired or replaced because of water damage from a failed driveway or patio, we handle that too, and we’ll address the drainage so it doesn’t happen again.
