Cover Windows & Doors: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

Cover-compatible window and door replacement in Fort Worth typically runs $4,500 to $15,000 installed for windows and $1,200 to $6,000 for doors, depending on size and configuration. We keep common Cover-series hardware and glass packs on our trucks, and most single-unit replacements are completed in one visit. Homeowners usually discover a failure the hard way: a window that drops and won’t stay up, a door that suddenly binds against the frame, or a seal that’s sweating condensation between the panes.

We’re an independent Fort Worth contractor, not a Cover dealer or affiliate. That matters, because we can match your Cover unit with either OEM parts or quality aftermarket equivalents without pushing you toward a full replacement you don’t need. If the frame is square and the flashing is intact, the fix is usually a part swap, not a demolition.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

A remodeled staircase with wood treads and a slim metal railing

Cover’s window and door lineup spans several series lines, and the hardware is not universal across them. We regularly work on Cover’s sliding, hung, and casement windows, plus hinged patio doors and sliders. The gotcha we see on Fort Worth job sites is that two Cover windows can look identical from the living room side but carry different balance systems or latch offsets depending on when they were manufactured. That’s why we never order parts from a photo alone.

Every Cover unit has an identification label, usually on the top rail of the sash or the edge of the door panel. That label gives the series code, production date, and glass spec. If the label is faded or painted over, a measurement of the sash width, glass thickness, and balance shoe profile will usually pin down the correct part. We match OEM parts when they’re still in production, and we’re direct about when a quality aftermarket part makes more sense. Some Cover balance assemblies and weatherstripping profiles have been superseded, and the aftermarket versions often outlast the originals. We tell you which is which before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your Cover Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • Window drops or won’t stay open. The balance system has failed. On Cover hung windows, this usually means a worn spiral balance or a broken shoe. The window still looks fine from the street, but the mechanism is done.
  • Condensation between the glass panes. The seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. Once the desiccant inside the spacer is saturated, no amount of Texas heat will evaporate that fog. The glass pack needs replacement.
  • Door binds or drags against the frame. In Fort Worth, we see this most on west-facing doors. The slab expands with heat, or the slab has settled. Sometimes it’s the hinge or roller. Sometimes it’s the header. We check the whole assembly before deciding which part to replace.
  • Drafts around the sash or door perimeter. The weatherstripping has compressed or the sweep is torn. This is the most common Cover door issue we fix, especially on homes built in the 2000s where original gaskets have gone stiff from heat cycling.
  • Lock or latch won’t engage. The strike alignment has shifted, or the latch mechanism itself is worn. On Cover sliding doors, the latch spring is a known weak point. A door that doesn’t latch is a security problem, not a minor annoyance.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Job Typical Installed Range in Fort Worth
Single Cover window glass pack replacement $450 – $1,250
Cover window balance or hardware swap $180 – $500 per window
Full Cover window replacement (per unit) $750 – $1,800
Cover sliding patio door roller & track repair $300 – $800
Cover patio door replacement (slider or hinged) $1,800 – $5,500
Whole-home Cover window replacement (12 – 20 units) $4,500 – $15,000

These are installed prices for Fort Worth, not parts-only numbers. What drives the range is size, glass package, access, and whether the opening has hidden damage once we pull the trim. The price we put in writing before work starts is the price you pay. That’s The Garrison Standard. Every Cover window or door repair we complete is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work fails within one year, we come back and correct it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Some things you can check safely: a loose handle screw, debris in a sliding door track, a latch that just needs strike plate adjustment. If your Cover window won’t stay up, that’s a tensioned balance system, and we recommend you leave it alone. A window sash that drops under spring tension can take a finger off. Same warning for a glass pack: tempered or not, a broken pane on a second-story Fort Worth window is a hospital trip waiting to happen.

What we commonly see go wrong with DIY on Cover units is mismatched balance shoes, driven-in trim nails that chip the glass edge, and weatherstripping glued in with the wrong adhesive that peels off in the first 100-degree week. The part costs less than the repair to repair. If you’re anywhere near Fort Worth, call (682) 204-4897 and we’ll send a background-checked technician with the right parts on the truck.
