Cover Fence Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

Cover fence installation in Fort Worth typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a full run, and most jobs are quoted and scheduled within the week. We stock Cover-compatible fence parts on our trucks and install them every month across Fort Worth, from Wedgwood to the Alliance corridor. Most owners discover a failing fence installation the hard way: a post leans after a spring storm, a section sags where the substrate gave out, or a gate drags so badly it won’t latch overnight. You already own the Cover product. This page tells you exactly what it costs to fix it right, what actually fails, and who in Fort Worth can do the work without turning a fence repair into a renovation drama.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

Cover fence systems fall into a few distinct lines, and the installation parts are not interchangeable across all of them. The two series we see most in Fort Worth backyards are the Cover Classic line, which uses 2-3/8″ galvanized posts set in concrete, and the Cover Modern line, which runs on 2″ square aluminum posts with a channel-mount rail system. If you can find the model plate, it’s usually stamped near the top rail on the gate post or embossed on the inside face of a corner post. No plate? Measure the post diameter with a tape measure. The difference between 2-3/8″ and 2″ sounds small, but it changes the brackets, the rail hangers, and the gate hinge kit. We have had jobs in Fort Worth where a homeowner bought the right-looking part online for a Modern system, only to find it was drilled for Classic rail spacing. Return shipping and a second week without a working gate. That’s the compatibility gotcha with Cover: the post profile drives the hardware, not the panel style.

OEM parts from Cover carry a manufacturer spec and match every mounting point. Quality aftermarket equivalents, when built to the same gauge and post profile, do the job and save 20 to 30 percent on hardware. What we don’t do is mix OEM and aftermarket brackets on the same post run. It causes racking. We note Bradford Remodeling Co Fort Worth is an independent service provider; we are not a Cover dealer or affiliated with Cover. What we are is a crew that has worked on enough Cover fences in Fort Worth to know which parts fail and which hold.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean after rain. The most common Cover failure in Fort Worth’s clay soil. Clay expands when wet, contracts when dry, and that cycle works a shallow-set post loose. If the post is set at less than 24″ deep or the concrete collar was poured too narrow, the whole section starts to drift. You’ll see a visible tilt of 5 degrees or more within one season.
  • Gate dragging or failing to latch. Usually the hinge post has pulled out of plumb, or the gate hinge bushings have worn into an oval. A Cover gate that latched cleanly last fall and scrapes the ground by May is telling you the hinge post installation, not the gate itself, is failing.
  • Rail sag between posts. This is a span or bracket issue. Cover rails are engineered for specific post centers. When someone stretches a run to 8 feet on a 6-foot rail spec, or reuses old brackets with new rail, you get a visible smile in the top line of the fence. We saw this on a job near Ridglea Hills where a previous handyman had cut corners on bracket count to save $40.
  • Loose panels rattling in the channel. The channel-mount system on Cover Modern relies on a pressure fit plus set screws. When the screws back out, the panel rattles. Tightening them is a five-minute job, but if the channel itself was installed out of level, the screw never bites correctly and the panel will always chatter.
  • Bottom rail rot or corrosion. In Fort Worth, we get long hot summers and real thunderstorms. Where the bottom rail sits close to grade, standing water accelerates rust on galvanized rails and rot on any wood substrate. If the bottom rail is the first thing to go, the post bases are usually next.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

For a full Cover fence installation in Fort Worth, plan on $3,500 to $9,000 installed. A short run of 40 to 60 linear feet with one gate lands at the lower end. A full backyard perimeter with two or three gates, concrete removal, and elevation changes pushes toward the upper end. Here’s how that breaks down:

  • Post installation: $18 to $35 per post, including concrete and set depth of 24″ to 30″ depending on frost line and soil conditions. Fort Worth clay demands a deeper set than a sandy soil market would.
  • Rail and bracket hardware: $350 to $900 for a typical run, depending on whether we’re using OEM Cover brackets or a matched aftermarket set.
  • Panel installation: $12 to $22 per linear foot for Cover panels, pinned and leveled in the channel system.
  • Gate kit and hinge assembly: $250 to $600 per gate, including hardware, adjustment, and a function check.
  • Site prep and removal of old fence material: $400 to $1,200, depending on how much concrete we’re hauling out and whether there’s an existing post line to cut free.

Every quote we write in Fort Worth names the part line, the post profile, the concrete depth, and the gate hardware before we start. The price is written down, and it doesn’t move at the door. All Cover fence installation work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fence fails within the year because of our installation, we return and correct it at no charge. That’s a written guarantee, in your hand, when we walk the site at close.

DIY or Call Us?

There are two things you can safely check yourself. First, walk the fence line with a level on each post. See which ones are out of plumb. Second, check every set screw on the rail brackets and every hinge bolt on the gate. Tightening a back-out screw is maintenance, not remodeling, and if that’s all that’s wrong, you’ve saved yourself a service call.

Where DIY goes wrong on a Cover fence is the digging. Post replacement means excavating a 24 to 30 inch hole in Fort Worth clay, often around an existing concrete collar that has to be broken out with a breaker bar. If you hit a sprinkler line or a buried cable, the fence project becomes something else entirely. We’ve had to repair two DIY post digs in the last year where the homeowner cut a supply line to a pool pump. That’s not a shot at ambition. It’s a note that the cost of the miss is higher than the money saved. If the post is leaning more than 5 degrees, the base is gone, and that’s a concrete job, not a screwdriver job.
