Boxabl Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
A full Boxabl kitchen remodel in Fort Worth runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet grade, countertop material, and whether we’re moving plumbing or keeping the original layout. We stock and install Boxabl-compatible cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, and fixtures, and most quote requests get answered the same day you call. Owners usually reach out after the factory cabinetry starts delaminating at the edges, the laminate countertop burns or chips, or the sink base shows water swelling from a slow drain leak they didn’t catch early.
Boxabl homes ship with a compact galley kitchen built around a specific cabinet module system. The dimensions are tight, the wall structure is steel-framed, and the plumbing rough-ins sit in fixed positions. That’s not a criticism. It means the remodel has to work inside those constraints instead of pretending they don’t exist. We’ve done enough of these in Fort Worth to know exactly where the constraints bite and where they don’t. Curtis Lane and our crew approach every Boxabl kitchen the same way we approach a stockyard-area gut rehab: read the job site first, then write the scope.
Which Boxabl Models This Applies To

This applies to the standard Boxabl Casita and any Boxabl unit with the factory kitchen module. Whether you have the original 2021-era build or a newer unit, the cabinet footprint and plumbing wall are the same core design. If you’re not sure what you have, open a lower cabinet and look at the hinge stamp. The original hardware is a compact European cup hinge, and the cabinet boxes are lightweight panel construction rather than solid plywood. That tells you it’s the factory kitchen.
The compatibility gotcha most owners miss: Boxabl wall studs are steel, not wood. Standard cabinet installation assumes you can sink a wood screw anywhere. In a Boxabl, we use self-tapping fasteners rated for light-gauge steel, and we locate the stud flanges before we hang anything heavy. A cabinet full of dishes falling off the wall is a bad afternoon. Aftermarket cabinets from KraftMaid work fine in a Boxabl, but they need the right anchoring method. That’s not something we improvise. The Garrison Standard says every installation method gets written into the scope, so you’ll see it spelled out before we start.

Signs Your Boxabl Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet edges are swelling or peeling near the sink and dishwasher. The factory cabinet boxes use a laminate-faced panel that doesn’t forgive moisture. Once water gets into the substrate, the panel swells and the face delaminates. This is the most common Boxabl kitchen failure we see in Fort Worth, where summer humidity pushes hard against any compromised seal.
- The countertop has a burn mark, a deep chip, or a seam that’s lifting. The stock laminate counter is functional but thin. A hot pan set down without a trivet leaves a permanent mark, and the front edge chips easily at the sink cutout. Once water gets under the laminate, the substrate starts breaking down.
- Drawer slides stick or the drawer boxes rack sideways. The original slides are light-duty and the drawer boxes are stapled, not dovetailed. After a few years of daily use, the staples loosen and the drawer starts fighting you. We see this most in the drawer under the cooktop, where weight plus heat does its work.
- The sink base floor feels soft or shows water staining. A slow P-trap leak or a loose supply connection drips for months before anyone notices. By the time the floor of the cabinet is soft, the damage is through the cabinet box. We replace the cabinet and address the fitting while we’re in there.
- Backsplash grout or caulk is cracking away from the countertop. Boxabl homes flex slightly during transport and settling, and rigid grout doesn’t flex with it. Hairline cracks at the countertop-to-backsplash joint let water behind the tile, and that water wicks into the wall sheathing. Caulk failure at a tile joint is a small fix today and a bigger fix next year.

Every quote includes the written price before work starts. That means hardware, anchoring, fabrication, labor, and disposal all line-itemed so you can see what you’re paying for. No numbers move at the door. When the job closes, you get a documented scope, a clean site, and the signed 365-Day Done Right Promise in your hand. If anything fails inside that full year, we come back and correct it at no charge. That guarantee is written, not implied.
DIY or Call Us?
You can pop a drawer out and check the slides and staples. You can look under the sink with a flashlight and see if the cabinet floor is swelling. You can run your hand along the backsplash joint and feel for cracked caulk. Those checks tell you what’s wrong. Fixing it is a different conversation.
Cabinet anchoring into steel studs is where DIY goes wrong in a Boxabl. A cabinet loaded with dishes pulling off the wall is a risk to whoever is standing under it. Countertop fabrication requires a template, a stone shop, and a seam that doesn’t telegraph through the surface. Plumbing rough-ins in a factory-built kitchen are in fixed positions, and moving them means cutting into steel framing and re-routing supply and drain lines. That’s licensed trade work, and even then, we pull permits where Fort Worth code requires them. Honest answer: some of this is owner-inspectable. Almost none of it is a weekend job. If you want a straight assessment, call (682) 204-4897 and we’ll walk through what you’re seeing.
FAQs

Most Boxabl kitchen remodels take two to four weeks from tear-out to final walkthrough, with countertop templating and fabrication driving the schedule. We give you a written timeline in the scope, and if the timeline shifts, you hear about it from us first. The Garrison Code says we communicate schedule changes before they become surprises.
Sometimes, if the damage is limited to a door front or a hinge plate. If the cabinet box itself is swollen or the staples have pulled through the panel, repair buys you a year at most. We’ll tell you which one it is before you spend anything. Straight scope, firm price, no surprises at final walkthrough.
We stock common European cup hinges, soft-close drawer slides, and the self-tapping steel-stud fasteners we use on every Boxabl job. For cabinet boxes, countertop slabs, and full kitchen packages, we order per project from our documented brand roster: KraftMaid and Wellborn for cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone for surfaces. That means every material has a manufacturer spec and warranty behind it, not just our word.
No. We’re an independent remodeling contractor in Fort Worth, part of the Garrison Partners family since 2004, and we service Boxabl homes without any manufacturer affiliation. We do hold ourselves to The Garrison Standard on every job, which means a written price, background-checked uniformed technicians, and a live person answering the phone 24/7.
If your Boxabl kitchen is showing its age or failing outright, call us at (682) 204-4897. We’ll schedule a walkthrough, write you a line-itemed price, and tell you exactly what needs fixing and what can wait. Estimates are free, and the written price is yours before any work starts.
