ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
We stock, match, and install ActiveYards-compatible pavers and driveway edge systems across Fort Worth. A paver driveway section or border repair on an ActiveYards perimeter typically runs $700 – $3,200 installed depending on how many units failed, whether the base shifted, and which series you’re matching. Most owners discover the problem after a hard rain: edges settle, pavers rock underfoot, or the polymer sand washes out and weeds start pushing through the joints.
The ActiveYards system is built around aluminum or steel edging that locks the paver field in place. When that edge fails, the pavers follow. It’s rarely just one paver; it’s the system around it. We diagnose the whole perimeter before quoting any replacement, because patching one corner without checking the edge stakes just buys you one season.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards manufactures several paver-compatible perimeter systems, but the two we see most in Fort Worth driveways are the ActiveYards Contour Edging and the ActiveYards BlockEdge system. Contour is a flexible aluminum rail designed to follow curved paver lines. BlockEdge is a more rigid steel channel used with square-corner paver layouts, common on straight driveway borders. If you still have the original install paperwork, the part number is on the second page under “Edge Components.” No paperwork? Flip a loose paver: the metal rail underneath will have a stamped code visible after you brush off the clay. That code tells us the series and gauge.
One gotcha specific to ActiveYards: the stake spacing matters more than the rail itself. ActiveYards engineering calls for stakes every 18 to 24 inches depending on soil type. Most professional failures we see in Fort Worth aren’t corroded rails. They’re rails installed with stakes too far apart because someone wanted to finish the job before the afternoon heat hit. When the stakes fail, the rail flexes, pavers shift, and the whole edge loses its backbone.
We use OEM ActiveYards components whenever they’re available locally. When we substitute, it’s an American-made aluminum rail with equivalent gauge and stake spacing, and we tell you in writing before the swap. You’ll never find out after the fact that a “compatible” part went in without your sign-off.

Signs Your ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rocking when you step on them. This means the sand base or the edge support has shifted. Either the rail is loose, or water has carved a void under the field. Rocking pavers crack next. That’s the next stage.
- Weeds poking through joints that were clean for years. The polymeric sand has washed out because the edge no longer contains the field. Water runs through the joints, pulls the sand, and the roots follow. Good news: this is usually a repair, not a replacement.
- The border row pulling away from the driveway in one section. Classic stake failure. Edge rail has pulled loose from the soil and the pavers are drifting outward. If you catch this in stage one, it’s a reset and re-stake job. Wait until the pavers crack, and you’re replacing units.
- Bowed or wavy edge line when you sight down the driveway. The aluminum rail has deformed, usually from vehicle weight on an edge that wasn’t backfilled properly. A bowed rail won’t bounce back. It gets cut out and replaced with a new section.
- Standing water pooling at the paver border. Water that used to sheet off is now collecting, which means the edge has dropped below the surrounding grade. That’s a drainage correction plus a paver reset. Fort Worth’s clay soil expands and contracts through the year, and that movement is hard on any paver edge, ActiveYards included.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we quote in Fort Worth, with the numbers written down before any work starts:
- Edge rail only, one section (up to 20 linear feet): $700 – $1,400 installed
- Full driveway border reset with new stakes and re-compacted base: $1,500 – $2,800 installed
- Paver field repair including replacement pavers, edge, and sand: $1,800 – $3,200 installed
The range depends on access, whether we’re cutting out old concrete or just resetting pavers, and whether the base layer is still sound. Every quote includes parts, labor, base prep, haul-off of old material, and clean-up. The written price covers the whole job. If we discover a problem mid-project, we stop and talk to you before any number moves. You won’t get a bill that grew legs.
All ActiveYards-related paver work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails within a year, we return and correct it at no charge. That includes edge failure, paver settlement, or joint sand washout.
DIY or Call Us?
Homeowners can safely inspect the system: look for loose pavers, visible rail, missing stakes, or standing water. That’s useful to know before you call. What we don’t recommend is pulling an ActiveYards rail out yourself. The rail is under tension from the paver field, and when it releases, it can spring. Plus, if the base beneath is compromised, you won’t be able to fix it from above. You’ll just put the same failing rail back into the same failing soil and be right back here in eight months.
Also, Fort Worth’s clay soil is not a passive material. It expands in our wet springs and shrinks through August. A repair that ignores how that movement affects the stake line is a repair that undoes itself. That’s why we compact and backfill to spec on every edge install, and why our guarantee covers the full year instead of the first 30 days.
Straight scope, firm price, no surprises at final walkthrough. If your ActiveYards edge has been moving, call (682) 204-4897 and we’ll come take a look at the whole perimeter, not just the loose paver.
FAQs

A properly installed ActiveYards paver system in the Fort Worth area should hold its alignment for 15 to 20 years, with joint sand refreshment needed every 4 to 6 years. The Texas heat and clay soil movement shorten that if the edge was under-staked or the base was skimped. Most failures we see are install issues, not material issues.
Yes, re-staking an intact rail is often enough when the failure was caught early. If the rail itself is bowed, cracked, or corroded, replacement is the honest answer and usually costs about the same as a re-stake once you factor in labor. Call (682) 204-4897 for a straight assessment; estimates are free.
A single-section rail replacement is a one-day job. A full border reset with paver field stability work usually runs two to three days in Fort Worth, including compaction and joint sanding. We give you the schedule in writing when we give you the price.
We stock the most common ActiveYards Contour and BlockEdge rail sections, stakes, and replacement pavers in matching Fort Worth colorways on our trucks. If your series requires an odd-length rail or a discontinued paver, we source it same week. We also carry parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone lines for kitchen work, so our service trucks run fully stocked for the jobs we book. Call (682) 204-4897 and we’ll confirm what’s on the truck for your address.
