Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

Ameristar kitchen remodeling in Fort Worth typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet layout, countertop material, and whether walls or plumbing are moving. We stock Ameristar-compatible cabinet lines and work with the brand’s common door profiles and box dimensions daily, so we can usually quote the job from a photo and a rough measurement before we ever step foot in the house. Most Fort Worth homeowners call us after they’ve lived with a failing kitchen long enough to know exactly what’s wrong: a drawer front that won’t stay on, a warped cabinet door from Texas humidity, or a countertop seam that’s opened up and started catching food. The discovery is rarely dramatic. It’s usually a small failure that finally tipped the scale.

Bradford Remodeling Co Fort Worth is an independent contractor. We are not affiliated with Ameristar, but we work with their cabinetry systems regularly and know which parts interchange and which don’t.

Which Ameristar Models This Applies To

Ameristar cabinetry generally comes in two build families: framed boxes with a visible face frame and frameless (European-style) boxes with full-overlay doors. The hinges, drawer guides, and door profiles are not interchangeable between the two. If you’re looking at a failing hinge or a stripped drawer glide, the first thing we need is a photo of the hinge cup or the glide stamped number. That tells us the series.

The compatibility gotcha Fort Worth owners hit most often: Ameristar’s frameless line uses a 35mm cup hinge with a 9mm drilling depth, and the aftermarket hinges at the big-box stores are usually 13mm depth. They’ll bind, pop the door, or split the panel. We keep the correct 9mm-depth hinges on the truck, plus Ameristar-pattern drawer glides in the common 18-inch and 21-inch lengths. For cabinet boxes, the standard Ameristar wall cabinet is 12 inches deep; the base box is 24 inches deep. Those are the numbers we work from when we’re building replacement boxes or retrofitting a bank of drawers. If you have an older Ameristar line with 1/2-inch particleboard box sides, we’ll usually recommend a plywood box upgrade at the same face dimensions, because the existing boxes are usually why the doors started sagging in the first place.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for Ameristar specifically: hinges and glides, aftermarket from Blum or Salice is equal or better than Ameristar’s OEM hardware in most cases. Door and drawer fronts are another story. Ameristar’s thermofoil finishes are matched by exact lot, which means a replacement door bought from a different batch will catch the light differently. If one door is failed and the cabinet boxes are sound, we’ll often refinish or replace the entire door set rather than one door, because a single mismatched door will be visible from across the kitchen. Curtis Lane has fixed that mistake once and won’t do it again.

Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Doors that bind or rub at the top or bottom. This usually means the hinge has worn or the box side has absorbed moisture and swelled. Fort Worth’s humidity swings, especially in homes without whole-house dehumidification, will swell 1/2-inch particleboard faster than anything else in the kitchen.
  • A drawer that drops or catches on one side. The glide has lost its ball bearings or the drawer box bottom has routed out of its dado. This is the most common failure Curtis sees on the south side homes built in the 1990s and early 2000s.
  • Thermofoil peeling along the bottom edge of the door. Heat from the oven or dishwasher vent is the usual cause. Thermofoil is a vinyl skin heat-bonded to the MDF core, and repeated heat cycles will eventually release it. Once it starts, it won’t stop peeling cleanly.
  • Countertop seam opening and catching a fingernail. Solid surface and laminate seams both move as the cabinets underneath settle. If the seam has opened more than a hair, the substrate or the cabinet top is shifting. Caulking it shut doesn’t fix the movement, it just hides it for a season.
  • Cabinet sides separating from the wall or the floor. Look at the gap between the cabinet and the drywall. If it’s wider at the top than the bottom, the floor or the wall has moved, and the cabinet was installed tight to a surface that wasn’t flat. This is structural, not cosmetic.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

Ameristar kitchen remodeling in Fort Worth carries these installed ranges:

Scope Installed Range
Full kitchen remodel, Ameristar-compatible cabinets $14,000 – $45,000
Small kitchen remodel $9,000 – $20,000
Cabinet installation only $4,000 – $13,000
Countertop installation $2,000 – $6,500
Backsplash installation $800 – $2,500
Kitchen island installation $3,000 – $10,000

What drives the range: cabinet count, whether plumbing or electrical rough-ins move, countertop material, and whether we find rot or termite damage behind the old cabinets when they come out. In Fort Worth, termite damage behind a sink base is not rare. We’ll tell you if we find it, show you a photo, and hand you a written change order before we touch it.

Every price we give is written before work starts. Not an estimate that drifts, not a range that widens at the door. A written price, and the number doesn’t move unless you change the scope. Every completed project is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which says in writing: if the work fails within one year of completion, we come back and correct it at no charge. You get a signed copy of that guarantee at final walkthrough, along with a clean site and a documented scope of everything we did.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check the failure point yourself: open the door, look at the hinge cup, read the number. Measure the drawer glide length. Take three photos. Those photos are what let us quote the job before we arrive. What you should not do is replace Ameristar frameless hinges with hardware-store hinges that have the wrong cup depth, because you’ll blow out the door panel and turn a $40 hinge replacement into a $400 door replacement.

If the cabinet box itself is failed, swollen, or separated, that’s when we say call us. Rebuilding a cabinet box requires cutting new panels, matching the face dimensions, and resetting doors to consistent reveals. Doing that on a wall of cabinets without the right jigs and a second set of hands usually ends with a worse reveal than you started with and a box of leftover parts on the counter. We’ll also check the box next to the failed one, because moisture and movement rarely stop at one cabinet.

Call (682) 204-4897 and we’ll look at your photos, give you a written price range, and schedule a time to measure. Straight scope, firm price, no surprises at final walkthrough.
