Boral Fence Installation: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

Boral fence installation in Fort Worth typically runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a complete fence build, with most projects landing in the $4,500 to $7,000 range depending on panel count, terrain, and gate hardware. We stock Boral-compatible post, panel, and hardware components and can usually begin work within a week of your written estimate. Most owners discover they need us after a North Texas windstorm or a long summer of soil movement: a post leans, a panel cracks at the rail connection, or the fence simply stops being square. You’ll notice it first at the gate, which binds, or at the corners, where the rails start pulling away from the posts.

The soil in Fort Worth is a big part of this story. Our clay-heavy ground expands when it’s wet and contracts when it’s dry. That cycle pushes on every fence post out here, and while Boral’s engineered composite holds up better than wood against rot and termites, it still needs a properly set post and a sound installation to do its job. Curtis Lane has seen more Boral failures from bad post depth than from the product itself. That’s the thing to understand: the panel is rarely the root cause. The installation is.

Which Boral Models This Applies To

If you bought a Boral fence in the last decade, you’re almost certainly working with one of three product lines: the Country Classic, the Ridged, or the Board on Board. Each uses a slightly different rail profile and picket spacing, and the milled dimensions are not interchangeable with generics off the shelf at a big-box store. Boral panels run thicker than typical vinyl composite, and the pickets have a distinct texture meant to read like painted cedar. That’s good for looks, but it means you can’t swap in a random replacement panel from another manufacturer and expect the reveal lines to line up. They won’t.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Fort Worth homeowners hit: Boral changed its post-sleeve dimensions on some production runs around 2019. Older posts accepted a 5×5 insert; newer ones run slightly narrower at the collar. If your fence was installed before 2019, do not assume a current Boral post cap or bracket will seat properly. We check the post interior with a caliper before ordering anything. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question, we’ve installed both. Boral’s own hardware is consistent and matched, but some aftermarket post caps and gate hinges from American Fence and Supply in Fort Worth meet or exceed Boral’s specs at a lower cost. Curtis Lane will tell you straight: on visible elements like pickets and post sleeves, we use Boral OEM. On hidden hardware, we’ll quote a quality aftermarket option and tell you why we picked it. We’re an independent installer, not affiliated with Boral, and our loyalty is to what holds up in Fort Worth conditions.

Signs Your Boral Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean, especially on the north side of your yard. Fort Worth’s prevailing winds come from the south, which means your north-side posts take the most repeated stress. A post that’s moved more than an inch off plumb is not going to straighten itself. In almost every case, the original concrete footing was too shallow for our soil, or no gravel base was used under the post. Boral posts don’t rot, but the soil around them still moves.
  • Gate drag or a latch that won’t catch. When a gate starts dragging, the hinge post has shifted. You’ll see it as a diagonal gap at the top corner. Shimming the latch is a thirty-minute fix that buys you a few months. The real fix is resetting the post and checking that the gate frame is still square. Boral gates are heavy. A dragging gate puts load on the hinges every time it opens, and hinge bolts eventually shear.
  • Pickets pulling out of the bottom rail. Boral pickets are milled with a friction fit into the rails. Over time, repeated expansion and contraction in Fort Worth heat can work them loose. If you can push a picket back into the rail with your hand, the rail channel has widened. That’s not a cosmetic issue. Loose pickets let water sit inside the rail, and standing water in a Boral rail will split it during the next hard freeze.
  • Concrete collar cracked at the post base. A hairline crack in the concrete around a post is normal in Texas. A gap wider than a quarter inch, or crumbling at the surface, means the footing has shifted. When the footing moves, the post moves with it, and you’ll start seeing stress lines at the panel seams within a season.
  • Visible sag in the top rail between posts. Boral’s composite rails have a deflection limit. If you can sight down the top rail and see a dip, the rail has taken a set and won’t recover. This usually happens when a panel span was installed too long for the product spec. Boral panels are rated for posts at 6 feet on center or less. If your installer stretched that to 8 feet to save on posts, the sag is the evidence.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s the plain number for a Boral fence installation in Fort Worth: $3,500 to $9,000. A straight run of 100 linear feet with one gate and good access usually lands between $4,500 and $6,000. A yard with severe grade changes, a two-gate layout, or post holes that fight us with rock will push toward the high end. You get a written price before any work starts, and that price does not move at the door. That’s The Garrison Standard: every scope in writing, every line item priced, no change orders unless you ask for something new.

Every Boral fence project we do includes removal of the old panels and posts if you’re doing a full replacement, new post footings set to depth for Fort Worth soil (which means below the frost line and into compacted base), leveling of the panel line, gate hardware set and adjusted, and a clean site at close. We haul off the old material. The work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fence fails within a year of install, we come back and correct it at no charge. You get the signed written guarantee in your hand at final walkthrough, along with the documentation of every part used.

You can safely reset a leaning Boral post if you have a post-hole digger, a level, and the patience to dig out a 3-foot hole in Texas clay. But here’s what goes wrong for most homeowners: the old concrete is still in the hole, the new concrete mix doesn’t get tamped properly, and six months later the post leans again because the collar wasn’t packed. Or a homeowner pulls a panel to fix a loose picket and cracks the rail because they pried from the wrong side. Boral is not vinyl. It has real material weight and milled tolerances, and if you force a panel out of true, it stays out of true.

What we stock on the truck for Boral work: OEM Boral pickets in the current textures, post sleeves, rails, gate frames, post caps, and a range of gate latches and hinges. We’ve also got aftermarket heavy-duty steel gate frames that solve the recurring sag on wide gates. If your fence is just starting to fail, call (682) 204-4897 and describe what you’re seeing. Curtis Lane will tell you over the phone whether it’s a weekend fix or a replacement. The estimate is free either way.
