CGI Windows & Doors: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We stock and install CGI-compatible windows and doors across Fort Worth, with most replacements running $450 to $1,400 installed depending on the part and your CGI series. Same-week scheduling is standard for stocked parts; if your specific hardware has to come from the manufacturer, you’re looking at five to ten business days. Most owners figure out something’s wrong the slow way: a window that suddenly takes two hands to close, a door that catches on the strike plate, or a hinge that’s started grinding teeth every time the wind kicks up off the Trinity.

CGI builds impact-rated products, which means their parts are heavier, wider in profile, and built around a reinforced frame system that generic hardware doesn’t always match. That’s the first thing to understand before you buy anything. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with CGI, and we’ve been matching their parts to the right models in Fort Worth long enough to know where the aftermarket works and where it doesn’t.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI’s residential lineup in Fort Worth breaks into a few families: the Estate and Targa series for windows, the Halo and Sentinel door lines, and the commercial-grade Spectra system that occasionally shows up on high-end custom builds in Westover Hills and Montserrat. The part you need depends on which one you have, and the fastest way to confirm is the AAMA label on the inside of the frame. It lists the series, the glass package, and the manufacturing date code.

One compatibility gotcha we see often: Targa series hardware from 2016 and later uses a different cam profile than earlier Targa units, so a latch assembly that fits a 2014 window will bind on a 2019 frame. If the label’s faded or painted over, measure the thickness of the sash. CGI’s commercial Spectra line runs a 3-1/4-inch profile, where residential runs 2-5/8 or 3 inches. That measurement alone eliminates about eighty percent of the guessing.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for rollers, hinges, and balances, a quality aftermarket equivalent from a supplier that specs stainless steel is usually fine and saves real money. For anything sealing the glass unit to the frame, gaskets, glazing bead, locking wedges, we stick with OEM. Those parts are engineered to CGI’s pressure-rating tolerances, and impact-rated windows earn their rating as a system. One substituted weatherstrip and the air infiltration numbers – and your summer electric bill – start sliding.

Signs Your CGI Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • Window drops when you release it. That’s a balance assembly losing tension or a shoe that’s cracked inside the track. On CGI Estate units, the coil spring inside the balance wears unevenly, so one side sags before the other. You’ll want to stop forcing it open; the uneven load chews up the track, and a $60 balance becomes a $300 track replacement.
  • Door scrapes the threshold or the jamb. Most CGI door sag in Fort Worth trace back to hinge wear or a top rail that’s pulled loose from repeated slamming against the weather seal. If the door clears when you lift the handle and drops again when you let go, it’s the hinge knuckles, not the slab.
  • Condensation or fog between the glass panes. That’s a failed IG seal. The desiccant inside the spacer bar can only absorb so much Gulf humidity before the seal lets go. Once fog appears, the window’s thermal performance is done, and the fix is a new insulated glass unit, not a repair.
  • Lock or latch won’t fully engage. On impact-rated CGI hardware, the multipoint lock has a series of rollers that ride a striker plate. When one roller wears flat, the handle still moves but the lock never fully seats. You lose the pressure rating, and in a storm that matters.
  • You hear air or feel heat bleeding through a closed window. Nine times out of ten in Fort Worth it’s a compressed gasket or a weep hole plugged with silt from our dry summers. Run a piece of paper along the seal; if it slides freely anywhere, you’ve found a weak spot.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled staircase with wood treads and a slim metal railing

For CGI windows and doors in Fort Worth, here’s what we quote:

  • Balance replacement: $150 – $350 per window, installed, depending on series and access
  • Roller and track replacement: $200 – $450 per door, including realignment
  • Hinge replacement (door): $180 – $380, including hinge knuckle and top-rail inspection
  • Lock and latch assembly: $250 – $550, depending on single-point or multipoint hardware
  • Insulated glass unit replacement: $600 – $1,400 per unit, including labor and disposal
  • Full window replacement: $4,500 – $15,000 per project, following our standard window pricing

Every quote is a written line-item price before work starts. You’ll see the part cost, the labor, and any disposal fee broken out separately. We don’t move numbers at the door, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every part we install: if it fails within a year of the install date, we come back and correct it at no charge. That’s in writing, signed, in your hand at close.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: reading the AAMA label, measuring the sash thickness, looking for obvious gaps in the weatherstripping, and confirming whether the lock handle is loose at the screw mounts. None of that requires pulling anything apart.

Where homeowners get hurt is springs and balances. CGI impact-rated windows are heavy – a fogged IG unit can weigh forty pounds or more – and the balance assemblies hold tension even when the window looks dead. If you pull a balance shoe out without releasing the spring correctly, it can take off. Call (682) 204-4897 for anything that requires separating the sash from the frame or touching a tensioned part. We’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician who knows the part before he opens the door.
