Master Halco Driveway & Pavers: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Master Halco-compatible driveway and paver components in Fort Worth, with typical installed pricing running $7000 to $18000 for a full paver driveway and $3500 to $11000 for a paver patio. Most calls start because a section of pavers has shifted, a border course has separated, or the base under the pavers has washed out after a heavy North Texas rain. We carry the replacement pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and base materials on our trucks, so a small section repair can usually be handled in a single visit.

Master Halco makes the steel edging, stakes, geogrid, and paver base components that hold a paver driveway together. If you bought your pavers through a Fort Worth supplier, there’s a good chance Master Halco edge restraints and base materials were part of the package. We’re an independent Fort Worth contractor, not affiliated with Master Halco, but we work with their components constantly and know what fits what.

Which Master Halco Models This Applies To

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

Master Halco’s hardscape line includes steel and aluminum edge restraints, paver spikes and stakes, geotextile fabric, and geogrid reinforcement. The two most common edge restraints we see in Fort Worth are the Master Halco steel paver restraint (often sold in 8-foot and 10-foot lengths) and the aluminum paver restraint used where a thinner profile is wanted against a walkway or planter bed. The compatibility gotcha most homeowners miss: the stake length has to match the paver thickness plus your base depth. A 2-3/8-inch paver over a 4-inch base needs a 6-inch spike minimum; try to use a shorter spike and the edge restraint will pull loose within two seasons. When we quote a repair, we measure the paver, the base, and the existing restraint before we order or load anything.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for steel edge restraints, Master Halco’s own components are milled to hold up under Fort Worth’s clay soil movement better than most off-brand substitutes we’ve pulled out of failed edges. For spikes and stakes, a quality galvanized aftermarket spike works fine as long as the gauge and length match. We’ll tell you which parts make sense to match OEM and which ones don’t, because the answer changes depending on where in Fort Worth you are. The expansive clay on the south side moves more than the sandy loam you hit north of Loop 820, and that affects how much you should care about the edge restraint spec.

Signs Your Master Halco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Edge restraint pulling away from the pavers. You’ll see a visible gap open between the steel edge and the first row of pavers. This almost always means the spikes have lost their bite, either because they were too short for the base depth or because freeze-thaw cycles worked them loose over several winters.
  • Border course separating or sinking. The outside row of pavers starts dropping or spreading outward. The edge restraint has failed and the paver base is now spilling out sideways, which lets water in and accelerates the whole failure.
  • Wavy or uneven paver surface in the wheel tracks. Cars put load through the pavers and into the base. If the geotextile fabric was skipped or the base wasn’t compacted in lifts, the driveway will start rutting where the tires sit.
  • Joint sand washing out after every rain. If you see sand streaming across the driveway after a Fort Worth downpour, the edge restraint isn’t holding the pavers tight enough under load, and the pavers are moving just enough to pump sand out of the joints.
  • Pavers rocking or chipping at the corners. A paver that moves underfoot means the sand setting bed has voids underneath. Chipped corners where pavers meet means they’re shifting against each other, which points back to an edge or base problem, not the paver itself.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

In Fort Worth, the installed price for a full paver driveway replacement runs $7000 to $18000 depending on square footage, access to the site, and how much of the existing base can be salvaged. A paver patio runs $3500 to $11000. If you’re repairing a failed edge on an existing driveway, most jobs fall between $800 and $2500 depending on linear feet of restraint, how many pavers need to be reset, and whether we’re hauling off failed base material or building back up with new crushed stone.

What’s included on a Bradford repair: all Master Halco-compatible edge restraints, stakes, geotextile, and sand, plus labor, site cleanup, and a written line-item price before we start. We don’t give a verbal range and then discover extra charges at the door. Our price is the price. The work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise, which says if the repair fails within a year of completion, we come back and correct it at no charge. If we install new base or pavers, those materials carry their manufacturer warranties, and the same one-year Bradford promise applies to the labor.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check a few things yourself. Look at the edge restraint and note where it’s pulling away. Measure the paver thickness. Check whether joint sand is washing out in one specific corner or across the whole surface. That’s information we’ll want when you call, and it helps us tell you over the phone whether this is a half-day repair or a full reset.

What usually goes wrong with DIY on this is the base. Edge restraints don’t fail on their own; they fail because the base under the pavers has moved, washed out, or was never deep enough for Fort Worth’s soil. If you reset the pavers on a failing base, you’ll be doing it again in eighteen months. Moving pavers is also real physical labor, and resetting a large section by hand will take most homeowners a full weekend and still not match what a plate compactor does in twenty minutes. We’re at (682) 204-4897. Call us, describe what you’re seeing, and we’ll give you an honest read on whether it’s worth your back or your checkbook.
